What To Do After Your Custom Home Is Finished – Part 3

How exciting! Your custom home in Vancouver WA is finally finished. So what are you going to do now?

Yes, we know you are going to move in, but what else are you going to do? There are some things you should probably do before the majority of the moving gets done.

Below, we finish our three-part series on what to do after your custom home is finished. In this installment, we look at fixes, shopping, and partying.

Create a List of Things Your Contractor Needs to Fix. Any reputable custom home builder wants to give you the keys to a perfectly built domicile. Unfortunately, that doesn’t happen.

It’s not due to anyone’s malfeasance. There are just a lot of things to do when building a home. A few of those things aren’t going to get done and a few will need extra attention. So walk around your home and make a list of fixes for your contractor.

Shop At Ikea. It doesn’t matter the value or size of your home. It doesn’t matter where you are in your life. If you’re moving into a new home, custom or not, chances are good that you’ll need to go to Ikea.

You might not spend a lot of money, and you might not even buy furniture, but it’s as close to a certainty as you can get that your new home will need something those Scandinavians have to sell.

Throw a Housewarming Party! This may sound like something you’d do a few months after moving in, but a lot of home buyers recommend throwing a party as soon as possible.

When you move in, your adrenaline is pumping and you get stuff done. After a while, that wears off. If you don’t get those boxes unpacked within a week or so of moving in, you probably won’t get them unpacked for a couple of years.

Therefore, keep the pressure on. Throw a party right away and you’ll be amazed by how much more you’ll get done in your custom home in Vancouver WA.
