Selecting Options for Your Custom Home – Part 1

If you’re constructing a custom home in Vancouver WA, your builders are likely to ask you to make a lot of decisions.

By a lot of decisions, we mean everything from selecting countertops in the powder room to choosing what kind of light switches to install. It may seem daunting but if you’re prepared, and you know what’s coming, it can be a lot of fun.

Below, Tuscany Homes examines the process of selecting options for your custom home.

Focus on the big stuff first. You’ve just signed the contract to have your dream custom home built. What’s the first thing you should concentrate on? Is it the color scheme of the guest bathroom?

No.

The first thing you want to do is address the big stuff which is usually structural. If you want to add a room, fireplace, or even a door, make sure your builder knows about it as soon as possible. The structural stuff affects what type of permits are needed.

Decide what post-construction upgrades you’ll make (if any). It’s likely that you’ll have your home builders make all the upgrades to your new domicile in Vancouver WA. That way, they’ll get done and you can roll the cost into the mortgage.

Yet, if you’re on a budget, and you’re handy, there might be some upgrades you can do yourself. This might include, painting, landscaping, and purchasing appliances.

We’ll continue to look at selecting options for your custom home in part two of this three-part series.
