Landscaping Mistakes to Avoid with Your Custom Home – Part 2

You’re fortunate to have one of those amazing custom homes in Vancouver WA. It’s what you’ve been dreaming about for years and you know what you’re going to do with every square inch.

Then, you look out the window and realize you have some serious landscaping to do.

Before you grab a shovel, or visit your favorite nursey, Tuscany Homes wants you to know some common landscaping mistakes.

In part two of this three-part series, we look at mistakes involving your custom home’s new lawn.

Cutting your lawn too short. Your custom home will likely come with a lawn and you may think cutting it as short as possible is a good idea. Cutting it short means you won’t have to mow as often, right? Wrong! You can get away with a short cut in the winter, but in the summer you’ll probably want to set your lawnmower as high as possible.

Failing to fertilize correctly. There are two ways to fertilize incorrectly. Those two ways are not fertilizing at all and fertilizing too much. Every region is different but you generally want to fertilize twice a year.

Overwatering your lawn. There’s a tendency for some homeowners to think that if water is a good for a lawn then a lot of water is even better for a lawn. That is not true. Typically, a lawn needs about an inch of water per week.
