Tuscany Homes enjoys being a home builder in Camas WA and the surrounding area. In fact, we love Southwest Washington.

So, when it comes to deciding on living in Washington or Oregon, we’d like you to consider the Evergreen State.

If you’ve landed a job in the Portland, Oregon area, you do have the option of living in the Southwest Washington region, mainly Clark County and its cities: Vancouver, Camas, Washougal, Battle Ground, Ridgefield, and La Center.

That’s because Clark County, and in particular Vancouver, is directly across the river from Portland, Oregon. You can live in Clark County and work in Portland.

Don’t get us wrong, Portland, Oregon is very nice. You really can’t go wrong living in Oregon, but it will cost you more.

Washington does not have an income tax. Oregon does. Washington does have a sales tax. Oregon does not. Both have property taxes, but if you make over $100k, you’re likely to pay more in Oregon.

Chances are very good, regardless of your income, that you will pay less in taxes if you live in Washington than if you live in Oregon.

Despite paying less in taxes, Washington consistently has better rated public schools, and you can pump your own gas.

We’ll continue to look at Washington versus Oregon in part two of this series.
